  • Find books & articles about an author
  • Find books & articles about a specific literary topic

To Find Works Written about a Literary Topic

To search for books about a literary topic:

  • Go to the library catalog 
  • Type your topic in the search box
  • Click on the search button

To Find Works Written by a Specific Writer

Use the following tools:

To search for books by an author:

  • Go to the library catalog 
  • Select Author from the drop-down menu options
  • Type in the search box: last name first, then the first name

Example: Author: crane stephen will yield autobiographies and original works by Stephen Crane.

Tip: When you search for an author, you may have a list of names from which to choose, as in the example above.

To Find Works Written about a Specific Writer

Use the following tools:

To search for books on an author:

  • Go to the library catalog 
  • Select Subject from the drop-down menu options
  • Type in the search box: last name first, then the first name
  • Choose your author from among those listed

Example: Subject: crane, stephen will give you a list of authors from which to choose

Tip: If you author does not appear among the subjects in the ODU Library Catalog, try OhioLINK's Library Catalog.
