The library, located in Spangler Learning Center, is open to patrons. Our current hours are available here.

The following resources are available 24/7 for ODU students, staff, and faculty:

To access our databases and our ebooks from off campus, all you need is to provide your email account information--your email and your ODU password. For more information visit our Off-campus Help page.

We recommend 3 options:

(1) Turn to Research 101, our online interactive tutorial with tips & guides, which will show you how to get started and how to find books, ebooks, and articles through the library's catalogs & databases.

(2) Start your research with our Research Guides. Choose your Research Guide by subject (e.g., British Literature) or course (e.g., ENG110). Our Research Guides will give you our top recommended databases, links to other essential resources, tips on how to use them, & resources for citing your sources & getting personal assistance.

(3) If you're still not sure where to start, start with one or two of our frequently used databases that cover almost any topic, available in our General Interest Research Guide.

And remember--you're not alone. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask a librarian for assistance.

Reference librarians are available to help you with your research questions in many ways:

  • By chat: any time you see our chat icon or chat pop-up, or go here for chat
  • By virtual appointment: visit our go here to book an online appointment - get an appointment with someone in as little as 2 hours (depending on availability)
